We've produced some great info about choices after Year 11:

Choose your Own Path 2009

You've got some new options

If you are a student, the courses and qualifications that you’re taking this year will probably mean that new options are open to you.

You may decide that you now need a break from education, or that you simply don't want to study any further.

If this is how you feel it still makes sense to plan ahead. Your experience in college or sixth form, and the qualifications that you will get, puts you in a strong position in the job market.

If you are thinking about applying for higher education you have to do that between September and January. It may seem a long way off especially if you’re on a two-year course, but don’t get complacent.

You’ve still got a lot of research to do!

Don’t forget about the September Guarantee

If you took a one year course at sixth form, FE college or with a training provider, then you have the right to a guaranteed offer of learning or training, by the end of September. This is called the September Guarantee.

The learning offer should meet your individual needs. So it will have to take account of the qualifications you have, be somewhere that you can travel to, and the sort of learning that you want to do.

It doesn’t really matter whether you’re thinking of continuing in further or higher education, starting work, or taking some time out, because if you want to make the best decision, then you need to take time to think about the options.

In this section we’ve highlighted the main points that you need to be aware of, and where you can find further information.

The good news is that being one year older, maybe now you are a bit clearer about what you want to do next?

If you want to talk about what’s open to you, Connexions advisers are on hand in schools, colleges, and job centres. Or you can call in at one of our centres.
