Crystal Meth

Known by different names: ice, yabba.


Facts:

  • Crystal Meth (full name Methylamphetamine) is an amphetamine like Speed.
  • It is a Class A drug.

Effects:

  • Increases arousal and activity levels.
  • When smoked like Crack, the highs can last between 4 and 12 hours.
  • Users feel more awake and hunger is suppressed.

Risks:

  • Overdosing can cause the user to have a stroke, lung and kidney damage and my even result in a coma or death.
  • Crystal Meth is highly addictive especially when smoked or injected.
  • Because the high can be so intense, crack use is often difficult to control.
  • Smoking Crystal Meth can seriously harm the lungs and cause chest pains.
  • Increases libido and risky sexual behaviour.
  • Large or frequent doses over a short period can leave users restless, confused and paranoid.
  • Regular users may find their habit very expensive.
  • Users have died from overdose.
