The Buzz:

Set in Ancient Greece, it looks like the toga-wearing civilians are calling it quits when it comes to worshipping their gods – and Zeus (Liam Neeson), is having none of it, I mean, he created them, didn’t he?

So, in order to remind his “children” that HE has authority, Zeus finds help in his brother Hades, ruler of the Underworld (Ralph Fiennes – Voldemort!), although he may have other ideas...

However back on Earth, someone by the name of Perseus is seeking revenge on the gods. They should be afraid, very afraid.

The thing that disappointed me in this film was that the action seemed to be squashed together, which made it predictable at times. Also, I did enjoy Sam Worthington’s performance as Perseus however, on occasion I struggled to comprehend what he was saying – he sounded like he was drunk!

On the other hand, Gemma Arteton nailed the role of Io, the mysterious woman who never ages, although the dramatic tone of her voice got on my nerves.

But the thing that saved this film was, of course, the special effects. Hades’ “child” was spectacular and not as I expected it to look and Medusa also surprised me.

The Rating:

I give this film 3 STARS
