The Buzz:

Hooray!!! After two agonizing years of waiting, the sixth instalment of J.K Rowling best-selling series has FINALLY been slapped onto the big screen!

Things are getting even darker this time, Lord Voldermort is rising in power to take over the wizarding world and everyone is freaking out about it. Back at Hogwarts, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) has discovered an old book - owned by the mysterious “Half-Blood Prince” – while in a Potions lesson, taught by Professor Slughorn (Jim Broadbent), who likes to “collect” powerful witches and wizards, like Harry, who is nicknamed “The Chosen One” because HE is the only one who can kill Voldermort.

No pressure then...

Meanwhile, hormones are raging in between classes; Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) gets himself a psycho girlfriend, called Lavender, Hermione (Emma Watson) begins to realise her feelings for him (oo-er) and Harry gets a crush on Ron’s sister, Ginny (Bonnie Wright). His sworn enemy, Draco, on the other hand, has more important things to worry about…gulp. Also, Dumbledore has a very important job lined up for Harry.

The first time I saw this film (yes, I saw it TWICE) I wasn’t sure about it, perhaps because I was concentrating more on how things went in the book, than the film, but the second time round was much better.

As usual, Grint’s performance was hilarious as Ron, particularly after he accidentally eats chocolates drugged with love potion. Hello darlin’!

Radcliffe also did well, when he took some “liquid luck”, but apart from that, his acting was a bit wooden.

The amount of comedy carries on throughout the film, so you’ll be laughing a lot more than in the other films, I can assure you.

Look out for GMTV presenter Ben Shepherd in Weasley Wizard Wheezes, wearing a brown suit with dark hair, on the left of the screen, as Harry, Ron and Hermione leave!

The Rating:

I give this film 5 STARS
