The Buzz:
Another Marvel comic made into a film, it doesn’t fail to impress!
A young man called Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who got rich after building weapons of war – the story is moulded well in the fact there is actually a war in Iraq – has to go and demonstrate his new missile in Afghanistan, however he and the US army are attacked, resulting in him being wounded by his own weapon.
Stark is captured and imprisoned by the Afghani soldiers, alongside a man called Yinsen (Shaun Toub) who saves his life by implanting a special disk in his chest, so the shrapnel of his weapon won’t go into his heart.
The soldiers want Stark to build them the missile he invented, including Abu Bakaar (Sayed Badreya) and the evil Raza (Faran Tihir). Instead, he builds a giant armoured suit which enables him to escape back to USA.
Much to his assistant, Pepper Potts’ joy, Stark decides to stop his company from building weapons, and he starts to work on a much, much better version of his suit, in order to help humanity, instead of destroying it.
This film didn’t disappoint me at all, and being a Marvel film, expect the finale, a mind-blowingly fantastic between Iron Man and Iron Monger (Jeff Bridges) with plenty of explosions added in!
Also – for all those eagle-eyed viewers out there- try and spot Marvel man Stan Lee amidst the crowd at a party outside!
The Rating:
I give this film 5 STARS
