The Buzz:

A bitter-sweet comedy, in the eyes of Juno McGruff (Ellen Page) a 16 year old girl with a serious dilemma. After drinking almost her whole body-weight in Sunny D, in order to take three (!!) tests just to be sure, she discovers she is pregnant – and yet she still manages to keep her cool and nonchalant attitude in tact.

Nevertheless, she is faced with the daunting prospect as to whether to have an abortion, or let the baby grow until ready to give birth – but then what? Keep it or put it up for adoption? The answer: with plenty of support from her step-mum (Allison Janney), Dad (J.K Simmons) and best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby), she decides to have the child to give to a childless couple, Vanessa and Mark (Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman).

Time goes by, and Juno’s bump gets bigger, after a rather interesting conversation between her mother and a rather snooty nurse, Juno goes to see Vanessa and Mark to show them the baby scan. However, the only person there is Mark and it isn’t long before they are listening to music up in his special room (Mark is a rock-star-in-the-making). There is an exceptionally intimate moment between them both in this scene, as they slow-dance together, but it is soon ruined by Mark announcing he wants to leave Vanessa. Juno storms out after Vanessa discovers this.

This film is for teenage girls in particular, as it is based on the certain pressures and problems they face (i.e. teenage pregnancy), therefore boys may not find this film to their taste.
