The Buzz:
Based on the novel’s by Stephanie Meyer, Isabella Swann (Kirsten Stewart), or Bella as she prefers to be called, leaves her comfy town of Phoenix, as well as her mother and step-dad, in order to stay with her estranged father, Charlie Swann (Billy Burke) in her native town of Forks – a dull and dreary place compared to the scorching temperatures of Phoenix.
Due to her shy and clumsy nature, Bella feels awkward around the boys and the attention they give her; that is until a certain Edward Cullen (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Cedric Diggory) catches her eye. Soon, a strange and forbidden romance blossoms between them, but since when has a relationship between a human and a VAMPIRE ever been acceptable? The closer they get, the more at risk Bella becomes, what with Edward’s animal instincts, despite being part of a family of “vegetarian” vampires.
Things take a turn for the worse of course, when a group of evil predator vampires enter the picture, and the devastatingly handsome James takes a rather deadly “shine” to Bella. Yikes.
Teenage girls are undoubtedly the main audience of this film, as there are an awful lot of attractive actors to be seen here, but the action scenes – particularly at the end – are superb.

I give this film 4 STARS
