The Buzz:

The third instalment of the Twilight Saga is here, at last!

This time, there’s some scary goings-on happening in Seattle; people are going missing and being discovered brutally murdered days afterwards.

Is it a serial killer? Of course not stupid, this is a vampire film…

Back in the rainy town of Forks, Bella Swan (Kirsten Stewart) is the centre piece of a rather befuddling love triangle. Should she choose Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), the love of her life and vegetarian vampire, or her best friend, Jacob (Taylor Lautner), who is also a werewolf? Decisions, decisions. Twi-hard* fans cast your votes!

Ignoring the fact that Victoria, the female villain, who has appeared in all the films so far, has had a face-change (sigh), this film was, safe to say, great. With the book, it frustrated me that the battle scenes were limited, due to Bella not being a witness, but here, that wasn’t so, and had me on the edge of my seat, trying to take in all the (surprisingly quite violent) chaos.

You get to know some of the Cullen clan better in this film, although I was disappointed that Rosalie’s story lacked some of the details included in the book, but hey-ho, Jasper got more of a say this time. I did have my doubts about Riley (Xavier Samuel) at first, as he has a bigger part in the film, but I was very satisfied with his performance as Victoria’s deliciously evil puppet on her string. Grr!

I loved the snide bickering going on between Edward and Jacob; I heard plenty of laughter (besides my own), from the rest of the audience, as Jacob said to Edward, “I’m just hotter than you”. Could be interpreted either way, depending whose team you’re on, girls! Do ya run with vampires, or wolves?

What’s more, I had great fun finding out what songs (featured in Eclipse’s amazing soundtrack!) were where in the film. But that could be just me being a complete Twi-hard sap…

* Twi-hard is a term used for people who are HUGE fans of The Twilight Saga. I didn’t just make it up!
