The Buzz:

At last! After counting down the days (and…er months), here it is, the second instalment of the Twilight Saga.

It’s Bella Swann’s 18th birthday, supposedly a great day for a person. Not Bella. Her boyfriend, Mr Sullen Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) may look seventeen, but he’s really a 109 year old vampire, while she’s still human.

After a disastrous birthday party in which Bella is left worse for wear, Edward and his family leave Forks. Because apparently that will protect her. She seeps into a deep depression, and only her best friend Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) can save her.

But when Bella does something reckless, it’s not her who needs saving…

Already being an avid, slightly obsessed fan of Stephenie Meyer’s work, I was anticipating something good this time round – and I wasn’t disappointed. Pattinson is amazing at being the angsty, vampire of Bella’s affections, and Stewart’s screams of pain of his loss are so realistic, I found myself wincing every time.

The effects were outstanding, particularly when a wolf bursts forth in thin air! Expect many a hot flush if you’re a teenage girl. Taylor Lautner has his shirt off in nearly every scene he is in. Not that that’s a bad thing!

However, just when it gets good, it ends very suddenly, on a note that will leave you GAGGING for more.

Only 8 months to wait though!
