If you have special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities the Local Offer is something that you should know about. The new law sets out the need for a Local Offer, which we have been developing in Suffolk.
The Council for Disabled Children have created a leaflet all about the Local Offer that is easy to understand. Have a look at the Local Offer leaflet.
Visit Suffolk’s Local Offer to find a range of local services that support children and young people with SEN or disabilities. You can find out information about schools and colleges, traineeships, apprenticeships, social care and health services in your area.
You can also have a look for things that might be a bit more fun and exciting, like sports, clubs for different hobbies and other leisure activities. You will be able to see where these services are found in the county and the name of someone you can get in touch with if you want more information.
Some services will not always be suitable for every child or young person with SEN or disabilities, but this will be made clear. If you’re unsure whether a service is right for you, you can always get in touch with the providers and see what conditions are supported.
To help improve provision in Suffolk, you'll be able to give your opinion on the services that you have been involved in and give your feedback, which can really make a difference. There is also a Young Person's Network where young people can be involved in shaping services. You can find out more about the YPN and how to get involved.
The Local Offer will always be a work in progress, with services often being added and updated all the time. To find out more about the Local Offer and search what's available in your area, visit: www.suffolklocaloffer.org.uk
