Illegal tobacco - what's the real cost?
Cheap tobacco isn’t the pain free deal that you might think it is.
For starters that person selling the knock-off cheap cigs, is probably also involved in other illegal business. Smuggled, bootlegged or counterfeit cigarettes, hand-rolling tobacco or speciality products (like beedis/bidis and sheesha/shisha), are big business for organised gangs. So seriously is it worth the risk?
Over the next few months there's a big campaign to tackle illegal tobacco sales across the east of England. You can support the campaign in the following ways:
- TALK: Help stop the flow of illegal tobacco by telling friends and family about the issue
- PLEDGE: To support the campaign against illegal tobacco
- REPORT: To share any information about illegal tobacco in the area by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
