Wheels 2 Work for young people living or working in East Suffolk

Suffolk Wheels 2 Work is a transport scheme for young people aged 16+ who have difficulties getting to work or training, offering scooters on loan.

To be eligible for a scooter on loan you must be 16 or over and live or work in East Suffolk, and have problems getting to work, college or training. This could be due to:

  • Lack of suitable transport
  • Working patterns outside of public transport timetables
  • Living or working in a rural or isolated area

If you're accepted onto the scheme, you will be responsible for providing fuel, and scooters cost between £35 - £40 per week.

Honda Vision 50cc - £35
Honda Vision 110cc - £40

Suffolk Wheels 2 Work will provide you with all the equipment you need to get on the road, including:

  • Insurance
  • Road tax
  • MoT (when required)
  • Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
  • Full Maintenance & Repair Service
  • Breakdown Cover
  • Support & advice
  • Safety equipment including crash helmet, gloves, armoured motorcycle jacket, security lock

While you've got the scooter on loan, you'll also be able to use it in your own time.

The Suffolk Wheels 2 Work scheme is run by Community Action Suffolk.

If you're interested and want to apply, just complete a Suffolk W2W Enquiry Form.

Then just email the form to suffolkw2w@communityactionsuffolk.org.uk.

If you have any problems or want to talk to someone about the form, you can call Project Coordinator Andy on 01473 345322 or email andy.simpson@communityactionsuffolk.org.uk.

Wheels 2 Work for young people living or working in Mid Suffolk & Babergh

Suffolk Wheels 2 Work is working with Sudbury and Stowmarket JobCentre Plus to offer a separate scheme for registered jobseekers living in Mid Suffolk or Babergh Districts.

Once you've got a firm job or training offer, if transport is a barrier for you then you can make an application to the scheme.

Jobseekers living in West Suffolk and registered with MyGo in Stowmarket are also eligible.

On acceptance and completion of Compulsory Basic Training, a Honda Vision Scooter will be provided for 10 weeks, free of charge along with safety equipment, breakdown cover, tax and insurance.

Contact your JobCentre Plus Advisor if you're interested, or call Andy on 01473 345322 or email andy.simpson@communityactionsuffolk.org.uk.
