Starting Work

It’s not easy picking up a Saturday job nowadays, so here are a few tips:

  • visit local shops (especially coffee shops/restaurants) and ask if there are any vacancies
  • telephone/write off to companies in your area in the type of work you are interested in and ask if any vacancies are available
  • if they don’t have any at the moment, ask to put your name put down on their waiting list
  • talk to your family, friends or neighbours to see if they know of any vacancies

Aged 13 – 16 and still at school?

Then don’t forget that you will need to get a work permit to start working part-time. Your school will have the application forms.
