Youth Opportunity & Capital Fund

Youth Opportunity & Capital Funds
Round 1 of 2010-11 to open 1 April 2010

What’s the idea behind this scheme?

The Government decided to make money available so that young people can do more in their local community.

Suffolk County Council is responsible for administering the money, which is available through both the Youth Opportunity Fund and the Youth Capital Fund.

If you're aged 13-19, or up to 24 with additional needs, you can put in a bid with help from a local organisation.

What could you use your money for?

If you have an idea on how to improve facilities, set up a new project or activities, or even just create a safe and warm place to chat n’ chill, then apply for funding to make your idea a reality. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in your community and make a difference.

The money from the Youth Opportunity Fund could be used to pay for activities and small items of equipment that young people need.

If you want new premises, items of equipment that cost more than £500 each or to make an existing venue young people “friendly”, then you will need to make a bid for money from the Youth Capital Fund.

You could even apply for money from both funds if that’s what the project requires!

What's it all about?

The Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) and Youth Capital Funds (YCF) are special funds for young people, run by young people.

The funds are available to support projects and activities for young people in Suffolk, which have been developed by young people from their own ideas!

YOF support projects and activities – ‘things to do and places to go’.

YCF can be used to buy things like equipment and pay for building changes.
