Suffolk Curriculum 4 Life Campaign

Posted by on 8 June 2020

Curriculum 4 Life survey released by Suffolk UKYP

A Curriculum 4 Life was voted a joint 3rd priority in Suffolk in the Make Your Mark youth ballot 2019. Therefore Suffolk Youth Parliament feel passionately that young people should have the chance to learn about topics such as political education, finance and the environment however these topics aren't currently on the curriculum and young people don't always feel that they are fully prepared for adult life.

In September 2020 there is a new piece of legislation called 'Relationships education, Relationships and Sex education and Health education statutory guidance' which means that some topics such as relationships and sex education, LGBTQ+ education, knife crime and mental health and wellbeing will be required to be taught in school. However, we think there will still be some gaps and we would like to find out what you think so that we can influence change.

We would like to influence education providers in Suffolk and encourage them to better meet the needs of the young people they are working with. This survey asks young people, teachers and parents about their opinions on PSHE (personal, social health and economic education) and RE (religious education) currently taught in school.

This survey is for young people (11-18), teachers/school staff and parents. Please share! Have your say, don’t delay!

Call to Action: Share the survey with young people, teachers, parents, share this page, share the promo video and share on social media. Tag @SuffolkUKYP #C4L
