5 Questions to ask your employer for work experience

Posted by on 9 February 2023

Hello,

My name is Asha Melay and I have done my work experience at Suffolk County Council and here are some questions I would advise on asking your employer before work experience starts.

When would my breaks be? It depends on the place and their time but you are required by law to at least take a 30 minute break if you work over 4 hours 30 minutes a day but you will most likely get extra breaks.

What would my work environment be like? It depends on the work you will be doing and your interests.

What would I be doing?  it depends on the place you work at like if you work at a tech company you will most likely be assisting people with technology and helping them fix things. But if your in a shop you might be stocking shelves and assisting people with things.

What are my colleagues like? They should be respectful and make you feel apart of their community but if they aren’t kind or nice I would go see your supervisor

What is the dress code? It depends on the work you will do at the work place but  for most work places I would say have smart and casual attire.

Have a great time!
